Raquel Manriquez

The third-year Santa Ana College (SAC) student is majoring in political science.
At Santa Ana College she joined the Associated Student Government (ASG) as the Senator of Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) and helped to advocate on behalf of the DSPS community through the Senate branch of ASG. During her time as the Senator of DSPS, Manriquez authored a bylaw change, which would include the new Senator of Veteran Affairs position within the Associated Student Government. The Senator of Veteran Affairs bylaw change was approved by the student population through the 2014 ASG Spring election.

Manriquez also served as the ASG President last year, being the official SAC student representative at the Board of Trustee meetings, College Council meetings, and District Council meetings. As President, Manriquez successfully advocated for gender-neutral restrooms to be implemented in new construction at SAC, for additional funding for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Ally (LGBTQIA) and Veteran student activities within the ASG budget, and for additional funding for cultural resources through the SAC Student Success and Equity Committee in order to make the campus more equitable.

Her future plans include transferring to University of California, Los Angeles. After completing her bachelor’s degree in political science, she hopes to attend law school. Her goal is to be a practicing attorney in educational or corporate law.

She currently lives with her father, mother, and brother in Garden Grove.

Student Trustee Manriquez can be reached by email.
