On March 23, Santiago Canyon College (SCC) student Aylin Kuzucan was honored with the Rancho Santiago Community College Board of Trustees President’s Scholar Award. Alyin, a political science major and a member of the Honors Program, was recognized for her academic achievement and co-curricular involvement at SCC.
Aylin has developed her leadership skills by actively participating in the Associated Student Government as the Senator for Health and Environmental Awareness. This year, she assisted with starting the Political Science Forum serves as the team captain of the college’s speech and debate team. Last year as a member of the speech & debate team, Aylin earned Bronze at the National Invitational and a Silver and Bronze at the State Invitational.
The Villa Park-native is active off campus and was recently elected to a two-year term as a delegate with the California Democratic Party 60th District. Aylin also coaches the El Modena High School debate team.
After graduating with honors from SCC in June, Aylin plans to transfer to UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCI, or UCSD and earn her bachelor’s degree. Her academic goals include gaining experience abroad by participating with an international organization and graduating from law school.
