Student Trustee Paul Garcia and Daniel Orozco

On Monday, April 27, Santiago Canyon College (SCC) student Daniel Orozco was honored with the Rancho Santiago Community College Board of Trustees President’s Scholar Award. Here Student Trustee Paul Garcia presents Daniel with a certificate of recognition and a gift card to the campus bookstore.

Daniel, a psychology major, first came to SCC in fall 2007 after graduating from Beckman High School. During his first semester he attended an Associated Student Government (ASG) meeting and several ASG sponsored activities. It was there that he realized the incredible opportunity to make new friends, network with the campus community, and develop his leadership potential. Since then Daniel has been actively involved in ASG and was recently recognized by his peers for his outstanding participation with the Bi-Hawk Award.

As a student is SCC's EOPS program, Daniel is completing the requirements for a leadership certificate through the Student Leadership Institute. Since fall 2008 he has served on the Inter-Club Council as the representative for the Psychology Club and is a member of Psi Beta Honor Society.

Daniel's academic goal is to transfer in Spring 2010 to Cal State Fullerton or Cal State Long Beach and pursue his bachelor’s degree in psychology. He aspires to teach and counsel troubled children and teens.
