On Monday, April 27, Santa Ana College (SAC) student Steve Anticona, was honored with the 2009 Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) Board of Trustees President’s Scholar Award. Here Board Clerk Brian E. Conley presents Steve with a certificate of recognition and a gift card to the campus book store.
Steve, who was born in Peru, came to the United States at the age of 15 with his family. He began his educational journey at SAC in fall 2005. In his first semester, Steve was the recipient of the Presidential Award from the White House for accumulating over 100 hours in volunteer work through SAC’s Service Learning Center. Currently, he's serving as president of Inter-Club Council and is actively involved in the Math, Engineer, and Science Achievement (M.E.S.A.) program at SAC.
Through hard work and determination, Steve has maintained a 3.39 GPA and plans to transfer to Cal Poly Pomona and pursue a degree in zoology. His career goal is to become a professor of zoology and hopes to return to teach at SAC.
