External Environmental Scans

The effectiveness of Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) is dependent on a comprehensive understanding of our environment and our capacity to respond to the changing landscape.  This laborious task is necessary to fulfill our mission of providing quality educational programs and services that address the needs of our diverse students and communities.  To that end, we review our “service area”:  its population, projected population change in 10, 20 and even 30 years, as well as analyze various characteristics (such as residents’ demographics, educational attainment, household income, housing ownership, etc.) that make up our communities.

The data geographically displays the RSCCD boundaries in easy-to-visualize maps showing who we currently serve and where we can potentially draw from as we strategize programs, course offerings, and services in the near future.  This data is also provided in quantitative format and extracted by zip code and by census tract for those who wish to conduct further analysis.  We encourage you to use these maps and data as they pertain to the district and our two colleges, Santa Ana College (SAC) and Santiago Canyon College (SCC).  Please contact Nga Pham at (714) 480-7467 should you need additional maps for your unique needs.
