Buy Gifts and Support Santiago Canyon College at the Art Department’s Annual Sale

(Orange, CA)— If the mall madness of Black Friday gets you down, and you find yourself frustrated with “out of stock” notices on your favorite websites, there’s one place to shop for all your holiday gifts without the frenzy of setting alarms or taking away from your family on Thanksgiving Day -- Santiago Canyon College (SCC).

Held annually, SCC’s Art Sale allows patrons to purchase one-of-a-kind gifts this holiday season, and whether those on your gift list have been naughty or nice, you’re sure to find something special for everyone, and at prices to fit almost any budget.

“We will have framed drawings, paintings, watercolor, ceramics, sculpture and a variety of other media created by our very talented students, faculty and staff,” said Robert Miller, SCC’s art chair. “We never know how many pieces we are going to get or how many artists will be contributing until the sale begins.”

Who: Santiago Canyon College Art Department
What: Annual art sale
When: November 29 from 1-4 p.m. and 30 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: Santiago Canyon College Art Gallery, Building D, 8045 E. Chapman Ave. Orange, 92869. Day parking permits are available for $2 in any parking lot.

Frames for drawings and paintings will be included in the sale price. Fifty percent of each sale will go to the artist and 50 percent will go to the Santiago Canyon College Art Department. All funds collected by the school will support the college’s art department and gallery for the next year.

“I highly suggest that patrons get here early to have a chance of purchasing one of their favorite pieces of art,” said Miller. “The best gift for the holidays is a handmade artwork that supports the arts for years to come.”

The SCC Art Department offers courses in art history, painting, drawing/life drawing 2D and 3D design, illustration, digital photography, graphic design, web design and mobile app design; associate degrees in art, graphic design, digital media arts, and has a studio art transfer program. Students are taught traditional aesthetics with a contemporary approach and learn a range of techniques from rendering, line work and oil painting to digital photography and design. All students are encouraged to find their own artistic voice through conceptual analysis.
