Santiago Canyon College Students De-Stress with Paws for Stress Relief on Nov. 29

WHAT:

Santiago Canyon College (SCC) Psychological Services provide students the chance to de-stress during finals season with Paws for Stress Relief. Each semester SCC collaborates with Pet Partners to provide students access to certified therapy animals. Pet Partners is a national organization with their local chapter of Paws 4 Healing sending teams to schools and healthcare facilities to offer animal-assisted activities and therapy services. Student volunteers to support the event will come from Associated Student Government (ASG), SCC Active Minds, and other student clubs on campus.

WHERE:

Santiago Canyon College, Strenger Plaza
8045 E. Chapman Ave., Orange, CA 92869

WHEN:

Tuesday, November 29, 2016
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WHY:

Studies show that petting an animal can help to relieve stress, boost wellbeing, decrease stress hormones, and improve mood. Having the ability to effectively manage stress is critical to academic success, concentration, and student success. Paws for Stress Relief is a great break for students to take while studying for their final exams.

COST:

The event is free for the campus community at SCC and parking is $2. Through the SCC Foundation, there is a team fundraising webpage to raise additional funds to maintain the program. To donate, visit http://bit.ly/2fyQosO.
