Signing of agreement February 24 in Santa Ana marks the first time the largest IB community college program in the U.S. partners with an out-of-state university
(Santa Ana, CA)—Santa Ana College’s (SAC ) Global Business and Entrepreneurship Department announced today that it will be signing an articulation agreement for International Business (IB) with the University of Northern Iowa’s (UNI) College of Business Administration on Tuesday, February 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Ana College, 1530 W. 17th St., Santa Ana, Administration (S) Building, room 215. Articulation ensures SAC IB students direct transfer to UNI as juniors.
According to Interim Dean of Business Madeline Grant, the University of Northern Iowa is eager to tap into Santa Ana College IB students. “Because SAC’s IB program prepares students to become Certified Global Business Professionals (CGBPs), the University of Northern Iowa is very interested in our students transferring to their IB program,” remarks Grant. To date, 37 SAC students have earned their certification for global business professionals after passing the national certification exam, more than any other college or university in the United States.
SAC’s first IB articulation agreement with an out-of-state university coincides with the college’s centennial celebration in 2015. “This distinction affirms the direction of our IB program, and is extra special this year,” says SAC President Erlinda Martinez. “As Santa Ana College celebrates its centennial, this agreement validates the training and preparation that our students receive.”
Santa Ana College students will be able to transfer to the University of Northern Iowa arriving with a strong foundation ready to succeed as juniors working toward their Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a minor in International Business.
The largest community college IB program in the country, Santa Ana College’s Global Business and Entrepreneurship (GBE) International Business (IB) program is an accredited training program for the national Certified Global Business Professional credential exam. Recognized as a model program around the world, SAC’s GBE Department offers three other academic programs: entrepreneurship and innovation, management, and contemporary marketing. Taught by working professionals, the SAC IB program has been preparing students to sit for the national exam since 2004. SAC students who have earned their CGBP have gone on to be hired as marketing coordinators, international trade specialists, international sales associates, and global logistics specialists for organizations such as the U.S. Department of Commerce and Twining’s Tea in London, England. This articulation agreement is SAC’s Global Business and Entrepreneurship Department’s second; the other is with Cal Poly Pomona.
