Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College Offer Summer “College for Kids” Program

​(Santa Ana, CA)—After the excitement of being out of school has worn off, boredom can set in that affects kids everywhere. Once again this summer, Santa Ana College (SAC) and Santiago Canyon College (SCC) are offering “College for Kids” classes and camps to make summer exciting again. The program is in full swing with more classes offered each week.

College for Kids is an extensive academic and recreational program offered at both SAC and SCC. Fun, exciting, and educational workshops are presented on the college campuses all summer long. These courses provide affordable, not-for-credit educational and recreational opportunities. Students are allowed to discover, prepare, develop, and pursue learning enrichment activities through the summer.

SAC and SCC offer classes in the areas of arts and crafts, babysitting, science, math, English, performing arts, cooking, English, photography, reading, writing, SAT prep, Spanish, study skills, basketball, swimming, water polo, and more.

At SAC, workshops are offered in animation, robotics, and acting. 3-D game art and animation is four sessions long and runs July 18-21. Students will be hands-on in creating their own 3-D environment and character. Introduction to robotics will also be four sessions beginning on July 25 and ending on July 28. Kids will test and command their own take-home robot. Acting workshop for kids will have four sessions that begin July 18 and end July 21. Students will learn acting and improvisation techniques along with audition secrets.

At SCC, classes offered include rocket science, web development, and photography. In four sessions from July 25-28, “Galaxy Defenders” will allow kids to build their own model rocket and experience a real rocket launch. In four sessions from August 1-4, kids in grades 7-12 will learn how to use HTML and CSS to build their own webpages in “Web Development I”. The four-session, “Aspiring Photographers” runs August 9 -18. Young photographers will receive hands-on instruction to get the most out of their cameras while learning about composition and lighting.
