Sheena Tran Named Assistant Dean of Financial Aid, Scholarships, and Veterans at Santiago Canyon College

(Santa Ana, CA)—Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) named Sheena Tran, CPA, MBA, as assistant dean of financial aid, scholarships, and veterans at Santiago Canyon College (SCC). In this role, Tran is responsible for planning and managing daily operations of financial aid, scholarships, and veteran services programs. She will ensure SCC’s compliance with all federal and state financial aid regulations to ensure the accurate disbursement of funds. She will also ensure the accuracy of records pertaining to financial aid, scholarships, and veteran services.

With 19 years’ experience in internal and external auditing, fiscal services, accounting, budget development, payroll and project management for community college and K-12 school districts, Tran brings a wide range of skills to her new role. Most recently, she served as internal audit manager for RSCCD. In that role, she reviewed financial aid budgets, stayed current on all financial aid regulations and worked with college financial aid offices to ensure proper disbursements and reconciliations of funds.

Prior to that, she served as a finance project manager for RSCCD working with staff members and departments on Datatel implementation, Information Technology Services projects and compliance assurance for the district. Earlier, she was accounting manager for the Ontario-Montclair School District and served as a budget and fiscal consultant for various school districts. Prior to that, she served as manager of the School Business Division for Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman, LLP, a full service accounting and business consulting firm with offices in Glendora and Los Angeles.

Tran earned an MBA from the University of Redlands; a B.S. in business administration with dual concentrations in accounting and finance from California State University, San Bernardino; and an A.A. from Riverside Community College. She also obtained a certified public accountant (CPA) license from the State of California Board of Accountancy in 2002.
