Towne Street Theatre to Perform “The Meeting” at Santiago Canyon College as Part of Black History Month on February 28

WHAT:

Santiago Canyon College’s Office of Student Equity and Success, Student Life and Leadership and Associated Student Government in conjunction with Towne Street Theatre will present “The Meeting,” a play by Jeff Stetson. Directed by Nancy Renee and produced by Nancy Cheryll Davis and her assistant Sierra Smith, “The Meeting” is a dramatically compelling play depicting a fictional meeting between Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. While standing firm in their individual philosophies, the pair debate their approach to the same grave social problems. The presentation is stage managed by Kristina Roth and stars Donathan Walters as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Daron P. Steward as Malcolm X and Adrian Ziegler as Rashad.

The one-time performance is free and open to the public on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at noon.

WHO:

Towne Street Theatre was founded in the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles riots with the belief that they could affect social change through their art. By creating, developing and producing original work that is reflective of the African-American experience and perspective for theatre and film, Towne Street Theatre is currently celebrating 25 years of providing theatre as a service to the community. WHY:

The performance is presented in celebration of Black History Month. It has also been 50 years since the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Santiago Canyon College wants to encourage others to continue his legacy.

HOW:

The event is free and open to the public, but a parking permit is required. Day parking permits can be purchased for $2 in Lot 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6.
