Santiago Canyon College to Host Anti-Racism Activist Jane Elliott on March 8 and 11

WHAT:

Santiago Canyon College (SCC) will host “The Anatomy of Prejudice” with Jane Elliott. Elliott is internationally recognized as an educator, lecturer, and diversity trainer.

She is most notably known for her exercise, ”Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes” where participants are labeled superior or inferior based on their eye color alone. This exercise shows participants what it is like to be a part of a minority. Her film, Eye of The Storm, is also well known. Elliott is a recipient of the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education.

The lecture is free and open to the public. You may register for only one of the two dates listed. Free parking is available only in student parking lots while parking in time-sensitive, reserved, disabled, and staff spots will be enforced.

WHY:

Elliott exposes prejudice and bigotry as an irrational class system set by arbitrary factors through the work she does. Those who attend her lectures are always deeply affected by her words.
